Laura Morgan
Student Trustee
Laura Morgan, a resident of Athens, serves as UM’s student trustee. She is a senior history and political science major at UM with a minor in pre-law. She expects to graduate with University Honors in May 2009.
Morgan is active in the Student Government Association, having served as vice president in 2007–2008. She was sophomore senator in 2006–2007, a Freshman Forum member in 2005–2006 and a freshman senator in 2005–2006. She was Senator of the Year in 2005–2006.
Morgan served as an intern for Rep. Robert E. “Bud” Cramer (D-Ala.) during the summer of 2007 and as an intern for Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) in July 2008.
She graduated from Catholic High School in Huntsville in 2005, having completed 183 documented hours of community service. She is a recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award.
Morgan, with a 3.79 cumulative grade point average, was on the President’s List for fall 2005–fall 2006 and was on the Dean’s List for spring 2007.
She is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honor society and is historian of Phi Alpha Theta history honor society. She is president of Students for Constitutional Reform at the University of Montevallo (SCRUM).
Morgan served the YMCA Collegiate Legislature as a delegation leader from 2006–2008 and as a senate floor leader from 2007–2008. She has been a student affiliate member of the Montevallo Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) since 2005.
She is an executive board member of “Up ’Til Dawn,” a campus-wide fundraising program for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Morgan played in the Purple Victory Pit Orchestra in 2006 and 2008. She worked as a peer tutor for UM’s Student Support Services from 2005–2007, as a fundraiser for the Alumni Office in 2007 and currently serves as a student worker in the Student Life office.
