MONTEVALLO – The University of Montevallo volleyball team has added two student-athletes for the 2008 season, it has been announced by head coach Katie O’Brien.
Anna Garrison, a 5-4 setter/defensive specialist from LaVergne, Tenn. and Rachel Wotitzky, a 5-4 setter/defensive specialist from Punta Gorda, Florida will join the Lady Falcon volleyball program this fall.
Garrison was an All-Area and All-District selection and team captain while competing at LaVergne High School. Her team went to the District Tournament from 2005-07. She was also named Volunteer Girl’s State Representative and played for the Williamson County Select Volleyball Club.
Wotitzky competed
in volleyball, track and weightlifting
at Charlotte High School. She
established a school record for assists
with 2,475 and received the MVP and
Scholastic Award her senior season. She
was also named an All-Area selection for
her club volleyball team.
“We are excited to have Anna and Rachel
join our volleyball family.” O’Brien
said. “We are looking for Anna and
Rachel to add more depth to the setting
system and to our defense. We are
looking forward to be back in the
Student Activity Center with all of the
Falcons for the new season ahead.”
UM will begin
the 2008 season in Memphis, Tenn. at a
tournament hosted by Christian Brothers
University Aug. 29-30.
