McChesney Student Activity Center

The McChesney Student Activity Center is used for sporting events and large gatherings.  It contains a weight and cardio facility as well as pool and walking track.  Students may use the center during operating hours.

Did you know it only takes 10 laps around the walking track to make 1 mile?

Disability Support Services

Disability Support Services provides services to those who have documented:

*      Hearing problems

*      Vision problems

*      Learning Disabilities

*      Attention Disorders

*      Chronic Medical Conditions

*      Orthopedic or Mobility Impairment

*      Psychological Disorders

*      Traumatic Brain Injuries

Disability Support Services also works with the police department to coordinate parking for those with mobility disabilities.

What is a TRiO Program?

TRiO Programs are federally-funded departments that aide 1st generation, limited income, underrepresented, and other eligible students.

 

Upward Bound

Upward Bound is a TRiO Program that prepares eligible High School students for college success

McNair Scholars Program

McNair Scholars Program is a TRiO Program that prepares eligible students for continuing beyond their education into graduate school and beyond.

Student Support Services

Student Support Services is a TRiO Program that helps eligible college students to succeed while in college--Dr. Denise Myers, Director

 

Student Health Center

Student Health Center provides direct, basic healthcare to those not needing a doctor and referrals to those who do.

Some of the things provided for the students at the health center are:

*      M.D. visits with local physician

*      Blood pressure screening

*      Transportation to and from local doctor’s office

*      Assistance with making appointments with specialists

*      Direct care for medical assistance not requiring a physician’s care

*      AIDS information

Office of Multicultural Affairs

Multicultural Student Affairs provides assistance to minority organizations, helps with recruiting and retaining minority students, and provides resources for faculty and staff on diversity issues.

*      Freddy the Falcon is the University of Montevallo Mascot

*      College Night, a competition between Purple and Gold, is the longest running homecoming tradition of its kind.

*      Did you know that the University of Montevallo is the fourth name for the university? Other Names were

o   Alabama College

o   Alabama Girls Industrial School

o   Alabama Girls Technical Institute
*      Purple Side has the honor of winning the most College Night competitions.  Their mascot is the cow.

*      Gold Side won the very first college night competition in which the colors (Purple and Gold) were used.  Their mascot is the lion.

*      Founders Day celebrates the founding of the university.  It is the day when seniors officially receive their Caps and Gowns.
