Carmichael Library services
Carmichael Library also offers several digital services to students. Visit the library website at Libguides.montevallo.edu to access library resources and services, including:
- Full access to the library’s Discovery Search tool and Databases, by logging in with your UM username and password. This includes more than 200,000 e-books and articles from thousands of journals.
- Chat and e-mail research help. Librarians will monitor chat during library hours.
- Interlibrary loan service (articles and book chapters only) for items our library does not own.
- Library fines accrued during this time will be waived. Students should disregard any automatically generated emails about overdue items and fines. Materials will be due back when students are able to return to campus.

Study Habits and Tutoring Needs
Disruptions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak can present unfamiliar challenges as you study. Attached to this email and available here is a list of tips to help you stay focused as you adjust your study habits. Please contact the Falcon Success Center or the Learning Enrichment Center for any tutoring needs.
Student Emergency Financial and Food Assistance
Limited financial assistance, non-perishable food and toiletry items are available to students facing unexpected hardships. To access those services, contact Counseling Services by phone at 205-665-6245 or by email at counseling@montevallo.edu.
COVID-19 Student Relief Fund
The COVID-19 Student Relief Fund provides limited emergency financial support to University of Montevallo students who are unable to meet essential expenses due to a temporary or unexpected hardship caused in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. SCHOLLY COVID-19 Student Relief
SCHOLLY is not associated with the University of Montevallo, but is an additional financial resource for students facing hardships during this pandemic. SCHOLLY is awarding up to $200 per student in immediate cash assistance. Visit SCHOLLY COVID-19 Student Relief to apply.
UM Bookstore
The UM Bookstore’s physical store will be closed to the public until further notice, but will still offer online services to students weekdays from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m.
The Bookstore will be giving UM students free access to all ebooks for the remainder of the spring semester through a partnership with Vitalsource. To learn more about this program, click here.
Seniors, if you are planning to attend the Commencement ceremony on Aug. 7 and you already purchased your cap and gown, then you are all set to walk.
The bookstore will be stocking caps and gowns the entirety of the summer terms to meet any student need for caps and gowns for the Aug. 7 Commencement.
If you have unopened and unworn graduation regalia, the bookstore will gladly offer a refund. If you ordered and paid for your cap and gown online, you will need to contact Oak Hall at 1-800-456-7623 or webdept@oakhall.com.
