Welcome to Commencement at the University of Montevallo!

Winter 2021 Commencement

Dear Graduates,

Foremost, congratulations on your upcoming Stroll of Glory on December 10th at 5:00 p.m. in the Trustmark Arena of the McChesney Student Activity Center.  As a reminder, rehearsal will follow Senior Day (11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.) in the arena at 1:00 p.m.

Rehearsal lasts about an hour and you will receive important information from various UM offices—you are encouraged to attend, but it is not mandatory.  We have GREAT news to share concerning tickets.  Because of the size of your graduating class, we will NOT REQUIRE TICKETS; however, we ask that you be mindful and keep your guest count between 10-12 people so that all are comfortably seated during the ceremony. In accordance with current University policy, all graduates and guests are required to wear a mask.  Disposable masks will be available for those who need them.

You should arrive no later than 4:30 p.m. at the student activity center.  We will form the processional in front of the center along the sidewalk if the weather permits; otherwise, we will line-up in the hallway of the center.  The Montevallo Masters will be present to assist you with proper placement in line and they will be able to answer questions you may have.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, you will recess as a group back into the hallway.  The ceremony typically lasts about an hour and 20 minutes.

Information about photographs of you receiving your diploma from President Stewart will be transmitted in a separate email and will be on UM social media.
