Art is a big deal at Montevallo.
In fact it is one of the largest departments in the University. With a dedicated full-time faculty of 13 and over 230 art majors, students have the challenge and the resources to achieve at their highest level and to meet the professional standards in their field. The University is an institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
Our mission is to educate professional artists, to train art educators, and to enrich the liberal arts experience of the campus through courses and programs open to all students. Our graduates can enter careers in design, photography and digital media, or further their education in graduate programs in fine arts, art education and art history, or pursue employment in art-related fields with their university degree. Our students are prepared for a life-long involvement with art.
The University of Montevallo maintains a beautiful, historic campus and a “small college” atmosphere as a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. The rich tradition of the arts at Montevallo is reflected in our College of Fine Arts, housing the Department of Art, Department of Communication, Department of Theater, and the Department of Music each providing a stimulating and supportive learning environment for students, faculty and professionals.
