Honor Band Festivals 2022

With the continued threat of COVID-19, masks are required inside all buildings on the campus of the University of Montevallo, and some social distancing is recommended.

Middle School Festival: February 25-26, 2022

This two day festival takes place on February 25 & 26, 2022 (changed from the original date of Feb. 18-19). The festival begins with chair placement and a rehearsal Friday night. The participants will have an opportunity to hear UM’s chamber ensembles Saturday afternoon. The final concert is also on Saturday afternoon. A complete schedule of events will be updated soon, below.

Students must be recommended by a band instructor in order to register for the UM Honor Band. The deadline for Directors to recommend students is Feb. 4. We reserve the right to invite a limited number to fill the positions available. More experienced students will have first preference, but we encourage young talented students to apply.

The list of accepted students will be posted below.  Students on the list may register and pay the $70.00 fee online. Chair try-out audition requirements are listed below.

High School Festival: March 4-6, 2022

The High School Honor Band will take place on March 4, 5, & 6, 2022. The UM Wind Ensemble will kick off the weekend with a concert on Friday night in Palmer Auditorium. The participants will also have an opportunity to hear UM’s chamber ensembles as well as enjoy pizza and jazz Saturday evening with the UM Jazz Ensemble.

You must be recommended by a band instructor to register for the UM Honor Band. The deadline for directors to recommend students is Feb. 11. We reserve the right to invite a limited number to fill the positions available. Upper class students will have first preference, but we encourage young talented students to apply as well.
