About the RN to BSN Program
The RN to BSN program is designed for registered nurses who wish to continue their nursing education and obtain their BSN. The baccalaureate curriculum is designed to prepare students for work within the growing and changing healthcare environment. The program is a 3-semester hybrid format with required integrated clinical practice experiences that may be completed in approved clinical sites in the student’s community.

To apply for the RN to BSN program, you must apply to the University of Montevallo Undergraduate Admissions office.
RN to BSN Admission Requirements
In addition to the University’s general admission requirements as described in the Undergraduate Admissions section of the Bulletin, students seeking admission to the RN to BSN program must meet the following additional requirements at the time of the application:
- Earned ASN/Diploma from an accredited Nursing program.
- GPA of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale.
- Unencumbered active registered nurse (RN) license in Alabama.
- Resume
- Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions
- Personal statement
Upon admission the RN to BSN student will receive information concerning current UM Nursing requirements for enrollment. These include but may not be limited to: clinical agency required immunizations; Level 2 criminal background check; fingerprinting; American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support certification; and drug screen.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
