Each year, the University of Montevallo’s College Night Committee votes to dedicate UM’s annual homecoming tradition to one deserving faculty, staff or alumnus whose involvement has impacted the tradition for the better.
On Friday, Feb. 9, UM alumna and staff member Kathy Weese Adams walked onto the stage of Palmer Auditorium to be officially recognized as the 2018 College Night Dedication recipient.
Adams, a Montevallo native, has served on the College Night Committee since 2007, playing various roles in the tickets and finance subcommittees.
She played a pivotal role in making University event tickets purchasable online. For the last two years, she has managed all non-alumni College Night ticket sales.
As a student, Adams worked in the records office, later becoming a full-time records assistant in 1996. She graduated from UM’s Stephens College of Business in 1999 with a degree in accounting.
After graduation, Kathy rose up through several positions at UM, from a staff accountant, to assistant comptroller and comptroller, to director of technology services for business affairs and now her current position as director of business support services for the University’s Information Services & Technology department.
“Words cannot express how deeply honored and grateful I am to be this year’s recipient,” said Adams. “My College Night roots go back to my childhood. I have many fond memories of attending while I was growing up and looked forward to being a part of it one day. I am blessed to serve on the committee and still be a part of the excitement each year.”
