During the celebration of its 123rd Founders’ Day, the University of Montevallo recognized deserving faculty, staff and alumni.
On Oct. 10 the UM National Alumni Association recognized Donna Murphy with the Outstanding Staff Service Award.
Murphy, commonly known by the UM community as Ms. Donna, has been working at the University for more than 30 years and currently serves as the front of house supervisor for Falcon Foods/Chartwells.
Murphy is responsible for the experience that UM faculty, staff, students and visitors have in UM’s dining facility and at various events catered by Falcon Foods.
She has brought her positive personality and friendly attitude to various events she has worked at, ranging from daily food service to special events in Anna Irvin and formal receptions at Flowerhill.
“Her personality immediately makes you feel welcome and as if you already know someone on campus,” said Amanda Fox, registrar at the University of Montevallo. “Once you are here, the care and attention she shows students, faculty and staff helps bring us in as part of the UM family.”
The impact that Murphy has had on both current and former students was evident with the buzz surrounding the announcement of selection for this award. Thousands of students and alumni recounted positive experiences with Murphy
“To say Ms. Murphy is an asset to UM is an understatement,” said Fox. “She is an essential part of the UM family.”
