University of Montevallo junior dietetics major Hannah Bolton said she found the perfect collegiate fit when she visited UM for the first time.
As one of about 10 people in her high school graduating class, Bolton wanted to feel the same small, close-knit sense of community in higher education.
“I went to a really small high school, and I like how everything is smaller here,” Bolton said. “It makes me feel at home, and I feel like I belong here.”
During her tenure at Montevallo, Bolton has become involved in organizations tied to her future career while working toward her bachelor’s degree. In addition to her involvement with the Student Dietetics Association, she also serves as the secretary for the junior Alabama Dietetics Association board.
For Bolton, the decision to seek a career in dietetics is the fulfilment of a promise she made to herself several years ago. While in high school, the guidance of a certified dietitian helped her to overcome a difficult time.
“The dietitian I saw really helped to change my life,” Bolton said. “I want to be able to make that kind of difference for other people.”
