UM Welcomes Lindell as Executive Director of Academic Success

The University of Montevallo recently welcomed Dr. TyAnn Lindell as executive director of academic success. She will provide administrative supervision and oversight for the Center for Academic Success at UM, a comprehensive academic support system that includes academic advisement, TRIO programs, supplemental instruction and tutorials.

Lindell has 14 years of experience in secondary education followed by 17 years in higher education administration. She most recently served as executive vice president for academic and student affairs at Finlandia University in Hancock, Mich. From 2002 to 2010, she held the position of assistant dean for academic affairs at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and from 1997 to 2002, she served as educational technology specialist and instructional design and development specialist at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Prior to her work in higher education, she was a teacher and technology coordinator in New Hampton, Iowa. She has extensive experience in initiating programs related to student success and retention as well as undergraduate research.

Lindell earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Concordia University in Seward, Neb. She received a master’s degree in computer applications in education and a doctoral degree in postsecondary educational leadership, both from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.
