UM welcomes new faculty

The University of Montevallo recently welcomed its new faculty. They are:

• Virginia Bare, assistant professor of psychology, who earned the B.A. from Davidson College, the M.A. from Western Carolina University and the Ph.D. from The University of Alabama;

• Stacy Bishop, assistant professor of kinesiology, who earned the B.S. from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, the M.S. from Baylor University and the Ph.D. from The University of Alabama;

• Susan Caplow, instructor of environmental studies, who earned the B.A. from Pomona College, the M.Sc. from Central European University and the Ph.D. (ABD) from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill;

• James Ryan Foster, instructor of art, who earned the BFA from the University of Montevallo and the MFA from the University of South Florida;

• Thomas Hajzus, assistant professor of instructional leadership, who earned the B.S. and the M.Ed. from Slippery Rock University and the D.Ed. from The Pennsylvania State University;

• Staci Kolb, instructor of business, who earned the B.S. from Auburn University and the M.Acc. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham;

• Amiee Mellon, instructor of business, who earned the BBA and the MBA from Central Arkansas University and the Ph.D. (ABD) from Old Dominion University;

• Kyle Moore, assistant professor of theatre, who earned the BFA from Texas State University and the MFA from Boston University;

• Steven J. Peters, dean, College of Fine Arts, and professor of theatre, who earned the B.A. from Ouachita University, the M.A. from Baylor University and the Ph.D. from Texas Tech University;

• Dustin Brook Pruitt, assistant professor of communication, who earned the B.S. from the University of Central Arkansas, the M.S. from Arkansas State University and the MFA from the University of Central Arkansas;

• Gregory Samuels, assistant professor of secondary education, who earned the B.S. from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and the M.Ed. and Ph.D. from the University of South Florida; and

• Jun Wang, assistant professor of business, who earned the B.A. from Tianjin University, the MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Ph.D. from The University of Alabama.

Joining UM for one year is Chan Harris, visiting instructor of theatre, B.M., The Juilliard School, and a graduate of The Actors Centre.

Fall-semester classes began Aug. 25.
