MONTEVALLO—The University of Montevallo will host the fourth annual Alabama Region 3 National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) conference Friday, March 14, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., in Anna Irvin Hall on the UM campus. The conference is sponsored by UM’s College of Education, Social Work Program and chapter of NAME.
Featured speakers will include Dr. Tondra Loder-Jackson, director of the Center for Urban Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Dr. Vera Stenhouse of the Georgia NAME Leadership Team. Rhonda Thomason of Welcoming Schools will lead the interactive general session. Experts in the field of multicultural education and civic engagement will explore key dispositions and strategies for working with diverse populations.
Teachers and social workers may receive eight CEU credits, and counselors may receive eight LPC credits. The cost of the conference is $45 for NAME members and $65 for non-NAME members. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Registration and payment remittal is open until March 7 through the University’s Cashnet website.
