University of Montevallo participates in The Big Event

MONTEVALLO—On Saturday, April 6, 430 University of Montevallo students from 28 campus organizations participated in The Big Event, a service project organized and sponsored by UM’s Student Government Association. The goal of this event is to express gratitude to the Montevallo community for supporting the university.

The students worked at 27 job sites in Montevallo and Brierfield and one Habitat for Humanity house in Calera. Tasks included raking leaves, washing windows, trimming shrubs and trees and digging flowerbeds.

Organizations who participated are as follows: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Kappa Lambda, Alpha Tau Omega, BCM, Chi Omega, Cross Country and Track, Delta Gamma, Freshman Forum, Housing, Lambda Chi, Men of Lund Hall, Montage, Minority Student Union, NAfME (National Association for Music Education), National Pan-Hellenic Council, Panhellenic Council, Phi Chi Theta, Phi Mu, Psi Chi, Psychology Club, Sigma Tau Delta, UM Prehealth Professionals, Upward Bound, Women’s Basketball and Women’s Soccer.
